Summer is nearing, how about floating in air with breathtaking saree, looking for what to wear, here is the beautiful handwoven 'Kota Doria' are the best for the reason, when I wore Kota saree, It feels like, I'm floating, transparent, featherweight, soft, airy, light textured, such a beauty it is, these cosy sarees are very fine weaves and weigh very less and comfort, these gorgeous sarees are handwoven on 'traditional pit looms' and drape gracefully. This village called 'Kaithoon' twenty kms from Kota city, the weavers are located in Kota district of South east 'Rajasthan'. Kota Sarees are primarily made in Kota, Rajasthan, Mau, Uttar Pradesh as well. The Uniqueness about this fabric is "Square checks patterning", these square-checks locally are known 'khats'. Kota sarees are also known by names such as 'Kota doria', 'Masuria', 'Masuria Malmal' and 'Kota doriya'. While the standard Kota Doria saree is woven in white and later dyed in different colors, in the case of sarees with designs, the threads are dyed prior to weaving.
The silk provides the shine, while the cotton provides strength to this fabric, a unique blend of cotton and silk give the saree appealing look. While Kota sarees are available in mediums such as

How to identify genuine 'Kotadoria' saree
- One will feel soft to touch, its light weight and open textured fabric
- The normal texture of the fabric, its a blend of silk and cotton, the silk yarns gives 'transparent effect' or transparency on the fabric and cotton yarns gives 'stripe effect'.
- Do check out for 'Chequered weave', which is square like patterns known as 'khats', because of this design does not appear evidently on the saree.
Fabric care for Kota doria cotton sarees
- First few washes do give for dry cleaning, if washing at home, do a delicate hand wash with cold water, finally with a mild detergent
- Do not soak the saree for more than five to eight minutes, to avoid color bleeding
- Dry the fabric in shade
- Never wring the fabric
- Iron the fabric in medium-low always
